David’s distinguished 30+ year career in squash officiating began in 1992 and has had a lasting impact on the sport across Canada and internationally. He has coached numerous aspiring referees and conducted hundreds of formal assessments, advancing officials’ certification and strengthening the standard of officiating nationwide.
David has officiated at more than 166 recorded international, national, provincial, and regional tournaments, including 17 appointments as Tournament Referee. He has been a National-Level Referee since 1998, serves as a National Assessor in Canada, and holds designation as a Level 3 World Squash Official — reflecting both his technical expertise and his standing within the global officiating community.
David has also been instrumental in developing the Squash Canada website and Officiating Database, creating systems that modernized referee tracking, evaluation, and certification. He also played a key role in strengthening the national certification pathway for aspiring referees, helping to ensure consistency, professionalism, and growth within the officiating ranks.
Internationally, David has represented Canadian officiating with distinction, refereeing in Australia, Bermuda, the United States, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and the Cayman Islands.
At the community level, David has dedicated more than three decades to club development in Simcoe, Pickering, and Peterborough, where he serves as Chair of the Board of Directors.
David’s legacy is one of mentorship, excellence, and unwavering service to the sport of squash.
