The Board of Governors of the Ontario Squash Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the launch of the new official website for the Ontario Squash Hall of Fame.
The Hall was created in 2005 to promote a greater awareness of the history of squash in Ontario by recognizing individuals for their outstanding achievements and exceptional contributions to the game; and to preserve the heritage of the game. There are 18 current “residents” of the Ontario Squash Hall of Fame.
In 2007, the permanent home of the Hall opened at White Oaks Resort & Spa in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Board of Governors continues to add more and more memorabilia and it encourages all squash players to stop in and visit the Hall.
The goal of creating the Hall was to ensure it was managed by an independent Board of Governors whose responsibility it is to receive and approve nominations to the Hall; to stage a bi-annual induction ceremony; to collect, appraise and approve various memorabilia for inclusion in the Hall; to engage the Ontario squash community in terms of education and awareness of the Hall through targeted communications such as the website and to make the Hall self-sustaining through various fund-raising ventures. Donations to the Ontario Squash Hall of Fame are eligible for a tax receipt.
The first step towards independence is the launch of the new website www.ontariosquashhalloffame.com
The next induction ceremony is April 9th, 2015 at the Toronto Cricket, Skating & Curling Club. Ticket information will be announced by February 15th and we very much hope you’ll plan to join us in welcoming the newest members of the Ontario Squash Hall of Fame.
The Board of Governors is accepting nominations now for induction into the Hall at this time. The closing date for nominations is January 15th.
We hope you enjoy the new website and welcome your comments.
